Following last year’s triumphant concert from Windy City harmonica hero LT Beauchamp, a.k.a. Chicago Beau, East London promoters Certain Blacks will once again showcase some of Chicago’s most celebrated free jazz pioneers, with former members of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), appearing at Rich Mix on 14 March as part of the genre-hopping Soul on ICE Festival.

The former AACM members appearing include Vincent Davis (percussion), Ari Brown (saxophone and flute) and Ed Wilkerson (saxophone and clarinet), who will be joined by next generation vibes/marimba virtuoso, Preyas Roy. Formed in 2021 via The Katalyst Conversation concert series, the group initially featured Davis and Brown at The Katalyst Coffee Lounge & Music Gallery in Chicago.

Supporting, and possibly joining Katalyst Conversation, will be London bassist/bandleader Miles Danso’s Ensemble who consist of flautist Keith Waithe, vocalist/beatboxer/cellist Gary Washington (who originally hails from New Orleans), with London percussionist Siemy Di and guitarist Maurice Brown completing the line-up.
