Claire Martin – Rising Above it All

As one of the finest jazz singers on the planet, Claire Martin has used a vast array of musical settings to frame her commanding voice, including her regular quintet and most notably her rarified duo with pianist and composer Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, who sadly died in December 2012.

She tells Peter Quinn how coming to terms with this personal and artistic loss has resulted in her new album, Time and Place. Featuring pianist Joe Stilgoe and the Montpellier Cello Quartet it’s a poignant and powerful look at life, love and loss
