Fergus McCreadie, Xhosa Cole and Sunna Gunnlaugs for Glasgow Jazz Festival

The line-up has been unveiled for the 37th edition of the Glasgow Jazz Festival with a vibrant selection of artists set to appear at 30 events across the city’s stages from 14 to 18 June. Highlights include the Mercury nominated pianist Fergus McCreadie and leading Icelandic jazz pianist Sunna Gunnlaugs on a double bill at Mackintosh Church on the Friday 16 June.

Other UK jazz names appearing including saxophonist/bandleader Camilla George, Manchester-based trumpeter Matthew Halsall, while Radiohead Reimagined sees the band’s iconic discography radically rearranged by a ten-piece band of musicians from Glasgow's energetic jazz scene via members of Fat-Suit, Tom MacGuire and the Brassholes, Dreaming of White Horses, and more.

Further local stars performing include the Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra celebrating their 20th anniversary with a concert at Drygate; Scottish funk outfit Federation of the Disco Pimp; top violinist Seonaid Aitken’s tribute to French violin hero Stéphane Grappelli to mark 25 years since his passing, and exciting drummer Graham Costello and his powerful band STRATA perform at Drygate (Saturday 17 June).

International artists appearing include Marco Mezquida Trio who are fronted by the award-winning Spanish pianist and composer, and highly respected US trombonist Steve Turre leads his Sextet on tracks from his 2022 album Generations at St. Luke’s.

Returning to towards its pre-pandemic capacity, the festival takes in venues such as St. Luke’s and Drygate in the east to The Griffin, Nice n Sleazy and The Old Hairdresser’s in the city centre, and from The Glad Café and The Rum Shack in the southside. And for the first time, The Mackintosh Church. And in addition to these bookings the free entry Late Night Jam Sessions will take place every night at club venue Nice n Sleazy througout the festival.
