Jazzwise 15th anniversary festival adds Michael Wollny’s [em], Josh Arcoleo and Zara McFarlane to final line up

Jazzwise has now finalised the line-up for its Jazzwise To The Power of 15 anniversary week at Ronnie Scott’s club, that runs from 12-17 March, with fast rising German piano star Michael Wollny’s [em] trio (left), being added to the line-up that includes Ron Carter’s Foursight with the Dear Miles project, the Chris Potter Quartet, Troyka with the Royal Academy of Music Big Band, the Arun Ghosh Quintet and Empirical.
Jazzwise, which was voted Jazz Publication of the Year at the Ronnie Scott’s Awards, has had a long relationship with the club and Jazzwise To The Power of 15 celebrates the extraordinary legacy, diversity and cutting edge of jazz covered by the magazine since it launched in March 1997.
The full festival line up is:
Monday 12 March: Special double bill featuring Troyk-Estra (Troyka – keyboardist Kit Downes, guitarist Chris Montague, drummer Josh Blackmore – with the Royal Academy of Music Big Band under the direction of Nick Smart) performing specially commissioned new material, and the Arun Ghosh Quintet featuring clarinettist Arun Ghosh, tenor saxophonist Idris Rahman, alto sax player Chris Williams, bassist Liran Donin and drummer Rastko Rasic.
Tuesday 13 March: Special double bill with Empirical featuring alto saxophonist Nathaniel Facey, vibist Lewis Wright, bassist Tom Farmer and drummer Shaney Forbes and Michael Wollny’s [em] trio featuring pianist Michael Wollny, bassist Eva Kruse and drummer Eric Schaefer.
Wed 14-Thur 15 March: Ron Carter’s Foursight, featuring pianist Renee Rosnes, drummer Payton Crossley and percussionist Rolando Morales-Matos, celebrating the Music of Miles Davis plus Zara McFarlane Band (14 March, Zara pictured above right) and Josh Arcoleo Quartet (15 March).
Fri 16-Sat 17 March: The Chris Potter Quartet featuring pianist David Virelles, bassist Joe Martin and drummer Gerald Cleaver plus Laura Jurd Band (16) and Sara Mitra Sextet (17). In addition there will be late night jams every night featuring many up and coming new players.
