South London’s World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens, housing a music Academy and venue, continues its eclectic programme of jazz events with two notable premieres and a wide selection of jazz artists from the UK, Europe and US. Things kick off with leading jazz violinist Tcha Limberger's Viper Club band (10 May) mixing up gypsy jazz and swing with Jerome Etcheberry trumpet, Dave Kelbie rhythm guitar, and Sebastien Girardot double bass.

Leading British pianist Julian Joseph premieres his new ‘Atmospheres In Audio Theatre’ work (17 May), which is presented in surround sound courtesy of the venue’s immersive d&b Soundscape speaker system. He’s joined by his new trio that includes Kaidi Akinnibi on saxophone, and Alok Verma on percussion. There’s also an appearance by improvising violinist Rebekah Reid who explores jazz repertoire combined with effects and live looping (31 May).

The summer line-up includes Philadelphia born jazz flautist Lawrence Jones’ Quartet (1 June); a triple-bill of young jazz talent including pianist Danny Piers’ Trio, saxophonist Ruben Ross’ 4tet, and trombonist Wilf Diamond’s 4tet (all on 21 June). This is followed by a triple-bill encompassing jazz, funk, prog rock, hip-hop and more from emerging artists Compound Chemistry, Caytra and Sound-Anthropology (26 June).

One of the stars of the Brazilian music scene visits the venue in the form of leading jazz trombonist Joabe Reis, who performs here for a London premiere (1 July), and closing out this run of dates in frenetic latin-jazz style is drummer Tristan Banks' high-calibre band with saxophonist Paul Booth (26 July).
