The eclectic Birmingham jazz fest returns with a vibrant line-up packed with new and established UK names
Birmingham’s B:JazzFest returns for its third year, with an exciting array of UK-based jazz talent set to appear on the stages of the city’s Symphony Hall and Jennifer Blackwell Performance space from 7 to 11 August. This year the programme includes rising star saxophonist/composer Olivia Murphy who leads her Jazz Orchestra; powerful drummer Romarna Campbell with her fusion-edged Chaos Trio, and multi-award-winning clarinettist Arun Ghosh – who all appear on the line up of free and ticketed events, alongside new artists and Birmingham jazz favourites. Further concerts include Kweku Sackey aka K.O.G. (Kweku of Ghana) leading his nine-piece band; a vocal-led double bill of Zambian-Scottish singer Gabriella Liand and Australia-born, Manchester-based singer, songwriter and storyteller Nishla Smith; and virtuosic free jazz trumpeter Charlotte Keeffe with her group Right Here Right Now.

Shanty Town - Trubute To Ruth Kokumo Noah (9 August, Jennifer Blackwell Performance Space, 5:00pm - 6:30pm). David Idjaduola's Lucumi Project (10 August, Jennifer Blackwell Performance Space, 5:00pm - 6:30pm); Arun Ghosh (11 August, Jennifer Blackwell Performance Space, 5:00pm - 6:30pm).
