The Norwegians are coming! A trio of autumn tours announced with Tord Gustavsen and Arve Henriksen visiting UK

Scandi jazz stars will be touring the UK in the autumn with regional shows and EFG London Jazz Festival appearances

Live music promoters Sound UK have announced three tours by leading Norwegian artists who will visit the UK this autumn for a series of concerts. These include renowned Hardanger fiddler player, Nils Økland, who appears with keyboardist Sigbjørn Apeland to perform music from their latest album Glimmer that combines Norwegian folk music and improvisation. Dates are: Kings Place, London (26 Sept);  St George’s, Bristol (27 Sept) and Turner Sims, Southampton (28 Sept).

Internationally acclaimed pianist Tord Gustavsen will also be in the UK with his trio of Steinar Raknes (double bass/electronics) and Jarle Vespestad (drums) in support of his tenth ECM album (title TBA) that’s due for release in September, with the group playing Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham (14 Nov); Cadogan Hall, London (15 Nov – part of EFG London Jazz Festival) and Turner Sims, Southampton (16 Nov).

Completing the trio of tours is Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen and Dutch pianist Harmen Fraanje, who present music from their debut duo album Touch of Time, released on ECM in January this year. The pair play the following dates: Howard Assembly Rooms, Leeds (20 Nov); St George’s, Bristol (21 Nov) and Kings Place, London (22 Nov – part of EFG London Jazz Festival).
