The combination of Omar + QCBA – aka Quentin Collins and Brandon Allen (with Ross Stanley and James Maddren) – was made for a live recording, and anyone who has ever seen this band perform would wholeheartedly agree. Together, they offer an explosive kind of excitement and energy, which is delivered at the highest level. The question of a live album was not if, but when. It was simply destined to happen.

The effect of COVID-19 on the live entertainment industry during 2020-2021 was devastating to many artists and their professional careers. Shows were repeatedly cancelled, rescheduled, and cancelled again throughout this period. And then, finally, Omar + QCBA was confirmed to happen at London’s Jazz Café on 29th May 2021. It was one of the first major live shows to take place in this city following the relaxation of social distancing restrictions. You could feel the anticipation and blessed relief that live music was about to happen once again. For most of the musicians in this band, it was the first time they were performing in front of a live audience in over 15 months. Everyone was more than ready for this show to happen.

Live at Last captures the spirit of being there, on that evening, to witness something very special. We hope this recording gives you the sense of joy and freedom the audience and the musicians felt together, as one on the night.

The band launch the album at The Jazz Café on 31 March – see the video below and for more info visit www.weareubuntumusic.com/omar-qcba-bio
