The Cotswold town of Stroud gets into the groove for the August Bank Holiday weekend with a triple bill of danceable sounds for the Stroud Master Sounds weekender from 25 to 27 August.

Things kick off on the Friday night with a non-stop DJ sets from the renowned Deptford Northern Soul Club and Deptford Northern Soul Club Records respectively. From a sell-out one off at Deptford’s now legendary Bunker Club in 2016, Will Foot and Lewis Henderson have taken their hard-hitting brand of Northern Soul up and down the UK and over to mainland Europe, to Glastonbury and Green Man, to venues in Bristol, Glasgow, Dublin and Deptford packing in soul stompers, heavy horns, ecstatic strings and dance-inducing soul classics.

The Saturday night is topped by five-piece outfit Afriquoi who fuse traditional African melodies, harmonies and grooves with funky garage, dubstep and house sounds – all played live - with infectious dancehall vocals on top. The band came to life in 2011 after percussionist and promoter André Marmot arranged a session with Jally, Nico, Fiston and Kudaushe, and the team never looked back since.

And things go out with a brass-fuelled bang as storming young Birmingham band Young Pilgrims bring their hard-grooving take on classic New Orleans brass band sounds shot through with jazz-rock influences and stunning solos. The nine-strong line-up, featuring trumpets and trombones alongside the baritone sax, sousaphone and two drummers creates a driving high-energy sound that doffs-its-cap to hip hop, soul and funk capped with top-notch jazz virtuosity. The band feature a strong line up of trombonists Richard Foote and Kieran McLeod; trumpeters Mike Adlington, Sean Gibbs and Sam Wooster, baritone saxophonist Chris Maddock. Michael Owers on sousaphone and the twin drumming power of Jonathan Silk and Euan Palmer.
