One of the most politically conscious and outspoken figures in the history of black music, whose classic albums on Impulse! denounced racism and inequality, the 81-year-old saxophonist and vocalist brings an emotionally-charged show to this year's EFG London Jazz Festival. Art Songs & Spirituals celebrates the jazz and gospel traditions with a fine cast of collaborators, including AACM legend, keyboardist and vocalist Amina Claudine Myers.
