Diana Krall – Standing In The Smoky Haze

Diana Krall’s smouldering voice has been a constant presence across the last two decades of jazz her seductive, deceptively sophisticated sound winning her numerous Grammy Awards and selling over 20 million albums.

Yet Krall has often walked a fine line between consummate jazz performer and canny cross over artist, not least with her recent vaudeville, jazz and blues inspired album Glad Rag Doll, and now even more so with Wallflower – her classy new, string-laden record peppered with songs by The Mamas & the Papas, Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan. Peter Quinn spoke to the Canadian singer about her continued desire to reach out to the wider world through classic songs and environmental protest tours with Neil Young
