Parisien/Peirani/Schaerer/Wollny - Extra-Terrestrial Communications

When the paths of four of Europe's brightest jazz talents – namely saxophonist Emile Parisien, accordionist Vincent Peirani, vocalist Andreas Schaerer and pianist Michael Wollny – crossed earlier this year for two swiftly convened concerts, little did they realise they'd create one of the most unusual supergroups of recent times.

The concerts were recorded, with the quartet subsequently receiving huge acclaim for their breathtakingly fluid and near telepathic improvisations. Ahead of their headline appearance at the EFG London Jazz Festival, Stuart Nicholson spoke to three members of the group to discover how a short-term experiment sparked new levels of collective creativity
