Roswell Rudd – Soul Elevation

Despite battling with illlness, master trombonist Roswell Rudd remained passionately committed to making music to the end.

Indeed, his illness embues his final recording, Embrace with a poetic power, distilling his wideopen approach into a beautifully poignant testament. His undimmed enthusiasm extended to his desire to talk about the album to Kevin Le Gendre, tracing his trajectory from performing alongside Archie Shepp, Albert Ayler, Don Cherry and Steve Lacy, to his involvement with the New York Art Quartet to becoming a flag-waver for the collective spirit among the younger generations of America's avant-garde. Sadly, Rudd passed away on 21 December 2017, aged 82. This was to be his final interview
