Acclaimed Finnish trumpeter Verneri Pohjola is a rising star of the European jazz scene, and also the son of one of his homeland's most revered musicians, jazz-rock electric bassist and composer, Pekka Pohjola.

Channelling his own conflicted feelings about his famous father's musical legacy by playing the music anew has resulted in his most powerful album to date. Selwyn Harris spoke to the trumpeter about the challenging emotional core that fuels this most personal of works
