The Israeli bass boss celebrates half-century with fan-selected deluxe box set compilation

Renowned bass player Avishai Cohen has celebrated his 50th birthday by releasing The 50 Gold Selection – a collection of his 50 most popular pieces between 1998 and last year, chosen by his followers from a 2019 fan survey.

A limited-edition box set featuring 250 minutes’ worth of recordings across six gold vinyl 180-gram LPs, The 50 Gold Selection is released on Cohen’s own label Razdaz Recordz/naïve, and also includes an exclusive poster as well as a 32-page hardcover book with notes written personally by Avishai, rare photos, a special poster and other exclusive content.

The album is described as “a special thank-you from Avishai to his most loyal fans and

followers in his 50th year, making it a unique exclusive collector’s item.” Only 2,000 copies, all individually numbered, have been made.

The 50 Gold Selection is available to buy now from your local jazz music retailer, or direct from Cohen’s online store: avishaicohenshop.com/product/the-50-gold-selection/
