The Frith Street club has a huge number of top names appearing this month with the acclaimed bassist Avishai Cohen among the highlights

Bassist and composer Avhishai Cohen is set to return to Ronnie Scott’s for another of his supercharged three-night residencies from 17-19 March. The bassist’s trio once again showcases two prodigiously talented younger players with pianist Guy Moskovich and drummer extraordinaire Roni Kaspi. They will all combine on music from Cohen’s 2024 album Brightlight, which matches his mastery of odd-meter grooves with lyrical melodies and explosive group interaction.
Ronnie’s March programme is packed with more top names that include US sax great Bill Evans and the Vansband All Stars that feature Gary Husband (keys), Felix Pastorius (bass) and Keith Carlock (drums) on 11 March. There are keyboard delights aplenty from LA lo-fi king Kiefer and his Trio (12 Mar) and rising star Jahari Stampley and his Family Trio (13 Mar) while jazz-poetry firebrand Anthony Joseph presents his ‘Rowing Up River To Get Our Names Back’ project (14 Mar).
Other top bookings include young Brit-jazz pianist Joe Webb (20 Mar), US virtuoso singer Michael Mayo (21 Mar), Norwegian tenor star Marius Neset (22 Mar); and three nights from beguiling Brazilian singer/pianist Eliane Elias and her Art of Bossa Nova show (25-27 Mar). In addition to these are two rare club dates from guitar icon John Scofield and his trio of bassist Vicente Archer and drummer Bill Stewart (28-29 Mar) and a welcome show from lyrical ECM-signed Norwegian trumpeter Mathias Eick (31 Mar).
