Benet McLean unleashes The Bopped And The Bopless at 606 Club

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Multi-instrumentalist and singer Benet McLean is set to launch his new album, The Bopped And The Bopless (33Xtreme Records) on Thursday 16 June at Chelsea’s renowned 606 Club.

The album features McLean on piano, violin, guitar and vocals across a hugely varied set mixing molten, hard-swinging jazz and soulful R&B alongside deft string and brass arrangements and plenty of high-energy soloing.

The album also features drummer Saleem Raman, McLean’s bandmate from the Andy Davies Quartet who appear each week at the popular Wednesday night Ronnie Scott’s jazz jam, while McLean’s virtuosic violin work (which has recently been heavily featured as part of Partikel’s String Theory project), is also featured on the album. The latter group’s saxophonist Duncan Eagles appears on The Bopped… alongside other stellar UK players such as top flautist Gareth Lockrane, Loose Tubes trombonist Ashley Slater, session trumpet ace Noel Langley, bassist Jonathan Harvey and percussionist Donald Gamble among others.

The album launch band will Mclean on vocals and violin alongside saxophonist Eagles, bassist Dan Casmir, drummer Clark Tracey plus a special guest appearance by renowned pianist Julian Joseph.
