The pianist and bassist perform music from their new duo album Keeping Company on a series of UK shows this March
Pianist Bill Laurance and bassist/oudist Michael League follow up the critical acclaim for their second duo album, Keeping Company (ACT Music), with a run of three live dates in March. Well known for their bombastically funky work with their Grammy-winning band Snarky Puppy, and Laurance’s solo and trio projects, their partnership focusses on spaciously melodic originals that straddle global music influences and jazz spontaneity.
The dates follow the recent release of a 10th anniversary edition of their breakthrough album We Like It Here, with a new Remixed + Remastered + Reimagined version out now on streaming platforms as well as a 4-LP vinyl set that’s available from the band’s website.
Recorded and filmed live with a studio audience over four nights in the Netherlands in 2014, the new version features enhanced/ expanded mixes of the music, with alternate takes of tracks such as ‘Shofukan’, ‘What About Me?’ and ‘Lingus’ released for the first time.
The band will also mark a decade since their Grammy-winning strings-laden album Sylva, featuring the Metropole Orchest when they once more join the ensemble and conductor/arranger Jules Buckley to record a new album in Utrecht, the Netherlands from 16-18 January 2025.
Laurance & League dates are: St. George’s, Bristol (2 March), Union Chapel, London (3 March) and RNCM, Manchester (4 March).
