The vibrant multi-genre South Korean music festival returns to London with some special jazz performances among the highlights
London’s Festival of Korean music returns to live stages this October and November, once more showcasing the variety and excitement within the country’s burgeoning music scene. Highlights include a rare London appearance by the multi-award winning ACT label artists Black String (pictured), who return to celebrate their 10th anniversary – together with old friend and masterful jazz guitarist Nguyên Lê – on music from their highly acclaimed collaborative album Karma (at Grand Junction Paddington, 28 Oct).
There’s also a chance to hear Korea’s leading experimental drummer, Soojin Suh, who lines up with her trio Coloris with a guest appearance from Nigerian-born, London-based saxophonist Camilla George, as part of wider EFG London Jazz Festival programme (Purcell Room, Southbank Centre, 17 Nov).
Further K-Music dates are: Kyungso Park & Soona Park with Angharad Jenkins (Purcell Room, 17 Oct); Dongyang Gozupa + Sinnoi (The Coronet Theatre, Notting Hill, 22 and 23 Oct); and DAL:UM (Purcell Room, 6 Nov).
