Brown's Hotel in Mayfair are set to launch a series of new jazz club nights in early October with their The Drawing Room After Dark series taking place in the venue’s beautiful wood-panelled room. With a desire to create a collaborative space, where the boundary between artist and audience blurs, and passionate support from the management for the music, the venue is hoping to create a conducive space for musicians and audiences alike.

The first tranche of bookings showcase some fine UK-based jazz talent and kicks off with rising saxophonist Sam Braysher and his Quartet on Tuesday 1 October. The band includes Mátyás Gayer on piano, Brit jazz bass legend Dave Green, and drummer Josh Morrison. They play music from Braysher’s new That’s Him: The Music Of Kurt We Weill. A regular performer at jazz clubs across Europe, Sam has received international acclaim for his warm, delicate sound and deep knowledge of the standard repertoire and American Songbook.

This is followed by Greek London-based contemporary jazz saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos on Wednesday 2 October, who leads a quartet of pianist Mátyás Gayer, double bassist Mátyás Hofecker and drummer Matt Home. One of the most accomplished Greek jazz musicians of his generation and a genuine representative of straight-ahead jazz, London became Xenopoulos’s home after he graduated with honours from Boston's Berklee College of Music and, and he has established himself as one of the most in-demand jazz saxophonists around.

The first week closes out with the Liam Dunachie Trio, featuring Dunachie at the piano/Hammond organ with Dave Manington on double bass and Jay Davis on drums. Dunachie has forged a formidable reputation through sessions with Jim Mullen, Dennis Rollins, Derek Nash, Nigel Price and Postmodern Jukebox's vocalist Aubrey Logan, and his own high flying jazz trio.

Further bookings in October include Hungarian jazz pianist Mátyás Gayer and his Trio of bassist Jeremy Brown and drummer Mark Taylor (Tuesday 8 October); top trumpeter Freddie Gavita’s Quartet of pianist Liam Dunachie, bassist Dave Whitford and drummer Tim Giles (Wednesday 9 October) and fiery tenor saxophonist Alex Garnett and his Quartet pianist Dunachie, bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado and drummer Matt Skelton  (Thursday 10 October).
