Bristol band Snazzback have been dubbed ‘New Wave dancefloor instrumentalism’ and as Tony Benjamin wrote in the June issue of Jazzwise: “This experimentation fed into increasingly impressive live performances around the city’s hipper venues and beyond while the flavours of Afrobeat, hip-hop and drum & bass underpinning their 2018 debut album Hedge caught the ears of BBC stalwarts Tom Ravenscroft and Jamie Cullum. The 2019 festival scene welcomed the band, with tent-busting performances at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Shambala and others helping spread the word. Back home in their Snazzlab studio, they worked on further recordings while still gigging as much as possible. It seemed the band’s momentum was unstoppable …”

That was of course pre-pandemic and having survived the isolation of lockdown, Snazzback recently returned with their adventurous new album, Ruins Everything, its title a direct reference to the destruction caused by the pandemic which they are setting out to banish with jazz-infused, life-affirming grooves. The eight-piece feature trumpeter Alfie Grieve, alto saxophonist Dave Sanders, guitarist Eli Jitsuto, keys player Hal Sutherland, bassist Will Scott-Hartley, drummer Chris Langton, percussionist Myke Vince and vocalists Adam Kammerling, Soss and t l k. Completing this label showcase are vocalist Grove and rising songwriter/producer t l k.
