The National Jazz Archive and Jazz Hub are putting on a special day-long National Jazz Day event and fundraiser on Saturday 27 April at their base in Loughton, Essex, which will present the launch of the fantastic new book on British jazz recordings, Labyrinth, followed by a rare live performance of Indo Jazz Fusions Revisited, based on the classic mid-1960s  Indo Jazz Fusion albums reimagined by Nick Smart and Jonathan Mayer.

The book launch of Labyrinth: British Jazz On Record 1960-1975  is from 10.30am-12pm at The Jazz Hub, Loughton Central Library, Traps Hill, Loughton, Essex, IG10 1HD and will feature the book's author Richard Morton Jack in conversation with Jazzwise editor in chief Jon Newey about how he put together this lavish, large format book which examines 300 of the most important British jazz albums from 1960-75, with the original vinyl pressings of each one photographed in full size for both front and back covers.

This is followed at 2.30pm with a must-see, rare performance of Indo Jazz Fusions Revisited celebrating the ground-breaking music of Joe Harriott and John Mayer's Indo Jazz Suite and Indo Jazz Fusion albums from the mid-to-late 1960s. This will be performed by trumpeter Nick Smart (Head of Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music) and a nine piece ensemble, including John Mayer's son Jonathan Mayer on sitar and Mitel Purchit on tabla, and will take place across the road at Loughton Methodist Church.
