Concert for Ukraine kicks off Verdict Jazz Club’s 10th Anniversary year as the Brighton venue reopens

Brighton's premier jazz club The Verdict reopens to the public later this month with a special fund-raising Concert for Ukraine on Saturday 26 March

The fundraiser on 26 March will feature a host of names including award-winning singer Claire Martin, Level 42 keyboardist Mike Lindup and many more to be announced soon. The vibrant spring programme of established and rising star names kicks off with the guitar summit of the Alessio Menconi / Nigel Price Quartet on 25 March and continues throughout April and May as the club celebrates its 10th anniversary year.

Nominated for Best Jazz Venue in both the Jazz FM and Parliamentary Jazz Awards, the programme is being curated by drummer Tristan Banks who has been involved in the local jazz scene and international tours for many years and follows his successful series of Lockdown Sessions at the club during 2021. In addition, the club has a number of initiatives lined up for the coming months including a regular weekly Jam Session on Thursdays, masterclasses with visiting names and the introduction of a club membership scheme.

Dates are: Alessio Menconi/ Nigel Price Quartet plus masterclass (25 March); Concert for Ukraine (26 March); Hexagonal (1 Apr); Jazz Jam (7 Apr and every Thursday); Paul Booth Quartet (8 Apr); New Gen Jazz present Emma Rawicz Quintet (14 Apr); Soul Immigrants (16 Apr); Laurence Cottle Trio (22 Apr); New Gen Jazz present Alex Hitchcock Dream Band (29 Apr); Son Guarachando (30 Apr); Ray Gelato/Enric Peidro Quintet (6 May); Luna Cohen Brazilian Jazz (7 May); Jim Mullen Organ Trio (13 May); Yolanda Charles Project PH (14 May); Julian Nicholas/Dave Beebee Quintet (20 May); QOW Trio (21 May) and Brandon Allen's Stanley Turrentine Project (27 May).
