New streaming service to offer in-depth curated playlists and exclusive performances
A new jazz-focused audio-visual streaming platform, jazzed, launches in the UK today via a dedicated iOS App, web player and through the SONOS speaker systems. Offering in-depth curated playlists across jazz’s myriad sub-genres as well as video and long-form written articles to complement the music, the subscription service arrives at a time when a new wave of Brit-jazz bands are emerging and the genre is enjoying a resurgence in popularity among younger audiences.
With its three-tiered membership, listeners will be able to sample the service via a free entry-level ad-funded 10-channel music and video service, while the premium level for £5.99 a month will allow access to deeper curated content of over 40 audio channels and over 1,000 videos. The platform’s premium level will be launched later this year with the owners promising “on-demand tier providing a vast audio and video catalogue of jazz and its derivative genres, as well as lots of exclusive content”.
Founded by former Jazz FM CEO Jonathan Arendt, jazzed will be launched at a private event on 12 February at XOYO, London with an exclusive performance from drummer Yussef Dayes and guests.
