The Brighton Jazz Festival returns this autumn after its sold-out 20222 edition, running from 5 to 8 October with the main programme gigs held at Horatios Bar on the Palace Pier, with jazz workshops and festival afterparty at the Verdict Jazz Club, featuring a programme of fast rising names.

Among these is saxophonist Emma Rawicz who’s touring music from her major label debut Chroma; there’s also a welcome appearance from fiery latin-jazz seven-piece Colectiva who’ve been impressing with their sophisticated yet hard-grooving sound. There’s also a strong line-up for experimental electronics-influenced four-piece Brown Penny who include Cassie Kinoshi (alto sax), Tyrone Isaac-Stuart (alto saxophone), David Mrakpor (vibraphone), Isobella Burnham (bass), Tjoe Man Cheung (guitar) and Ayo Salawu (drums) who are also on the bill, as is high-energy drummer Jas Kayser with her percussion-fuelled jazz-rock quartet.

Further names include Brighton fusion septet Beyond the Blue, Tomorrow’s Warriors’ mentored saxophonist Maddy Coombs, top jazz vocalist Sara Oschlag, US trumpeter Benny Benack III and thrilling Cuban-Argentinian keyboardist and singer Eliane Correa and her band La Evolución Orchestra.
