John Martin embarks on UK quest for adventure

Thursday, June 16, 2016

John Martin takes his decidedly contemporary-sounding quintet out on the road in support of new release The Hidden Notes – Spirit Of Adventure, an album carrying a titular tribute to the saxophonist and composer’s self-discovered technique of multiphonics and overtones.

Martin leads his ensemble, featuring Ralph Wyld (vibraphone), Rob Updegraff (guitar), Tim Fairhall (double bass) and Tim Giles (drums), on the following dates: The Crypt, Camberwell (17 June); Jazz at Future Inn, Bristol (23 June); Fusebox @ Fox and Newt, Leeds (30 June); Jazz Cafe, Newcastle (1 July); Cafe Concert, Royal Albert Hall, London (3 July); National Portrait Gallery, London (29 July); Colston Hall Foyer, Bristol (30 July); Ashburton Live @ St Lawrence Chapel, Ashburton (31 July) and The Vortex, London (3 August).
