Julian Joseph Jazz Opera Set For Autumn Tour

Julian Joseph’s opera Bridgetower: A Fable of 1807, which recently premiered in London, is set to tour in the autumn. With a libretto by Mike Philips the touring production is directed by Helen Eastman, telling the story of the brilliant black violinist George Bridgetower, who studied with Haydn and played with Beethoven. The cast includes Cleveland Watkiss in the title role, Jacqui Dankworth as Mary Price and English Touring Opera’s singers Jonathan Peter Kenny and Franz Hepburn plus the Julian Joseph Big Band and a choir.

The tour visits Arts Theatre Cambridge (23 Oct), Hackney Empire, London (25 Oct), Corn Exchange Exeter (9 Nov), Arts Centre Warwick (2 Nov), Hall For Cornwall Truro (7 Nov), Festival Theatre Malvern (13 Nov), Lyceum Theatre Sheppfield (17 Nov), De La Warr Pavilion Bexhill (24 Nov) and Bridgewater Hall Manchester (28 Nov).
