The festival features established greats like Liane Carroll and Alan Barnes alongside the cutting edge of the new jazz scene

Brighton stakes its claim as one of the leading jazz cities in the UK when the first Brighton Jazz Festival for many years takes place from 29 September to 3 October at the famous Palace Pier with a wide-ranging line-up, from established greats, Liane Carroll and Alan Barnes to the cutting edge of the new young jazz scene with trumpeter Jackson Mathod and singer/flautist Cherise (pictured below), who was voted Jazz Vocalist of the year at the 2020 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.
Presented by New Generation Jazz and PierFest with a special night presented by Love Supreme Jazz Festival's Supreme Standards, the festival is held in the 250 capacity Horatio's Bar on Palace Pier with doors at 7.20pm each night.
The line-up is: Liane Carroll and Julian Siegal duo (29 Sept); Alan Barnes and Dave Newton duo (30 Sept); Double bill with Howes 3 and Jackson Mathod (1 Oct); Supreme Standards presents a double bill of Mark Kavuma's Banger Factory and Cherise (2 Oct); Double bill with the Terry Seabrook Quintet and QOW Trio (3 Oct).
