Love Supreme Jazz Festival opens its gates with Jazzwise as media partner
Friday, July 3, 2015
The Love Supreme Jazz Festival, presented by Jazz FM and now established as the biggest summer jazz festival in the UK, opens its gates today with the organisers reporting a big increase in ticket sales for its third year in the bucolic South Downs setting of Glynde Place, East Sussex.
Jazzwise is media sponsor and has a strong presence at the festival with panel sessions in the Jazz Lounge and the current July Issue free on App for the weekend.
In addition to the full festival programme listed below, including the Bandstand Stage for local artists, there will be a Jazz Lounge, hosted by Blue Note, Concord, Impulse! and Verve labels. There will be two listening panels at 10.30am on both Saturday and Sunday morning – the first covering a history of Blue Note records with panellists Jon Newey (Jazzwise), Nick Hasted (The Independent), and Mike Hobart (Financial Times), and the second covering the history of Impulse! records with Jean-Philippe Allard (Impulse! Records), Mike Flynn (Jazzwise) and David Freeman (Jazz FM) – with both sessions hosted by music writer Richard Havers, author of the excellent Blue Note: Uncompromising Expression book. Both sessions will feature song playbacks and discussion between the panel plus a Q&A. Do come and say hello to the Jazzwise team! There will also be film screenings of Robert Glasper’s Covered: Live at Capitol Studio album session and Snarky Puppy with Metroploe Orkest’s Sylva album recording. The Jazz Lounge will also have free WiFi and visitors will be able to have free access to the Jazzwise App across the festival thanks to Exact Editions’ ByPlace technology – download the app here for free.
Jazz FM will be broadcasting live from the festival site throughout the weekend and the market trading areas will offer a myriad of international cuisine and bars while the camping areas include the posh alternative, Glamping, for those with slightly deeper pockets.
