Having made a triumphant sold-out return to live performance at last November’s EFG London Jazz Festival, the Neil Cowley Trio are heading out on a series of UK dates to showcase music from their well-received 2024 comeback album, Entity.

Reforming after a seven-year hiatus with a rejuvenated sound, the trio – with bassist Rex Horan and drummer Evan Jenkins – are, according to Cowley, overjoyed to be back together.

“I missed the human connection so much on stage during my live solo shows,” he elaborates. “There’s actually nothing worse than sitting in a dressing room on your own before a show... other than sitting in a dressing room on your own AFTER a show! You want to look in someone’s eyes and know that they’ve just felt what you’ve just felt. I’m always guaranteed that feeling with Rex and Evan.”

Alongside the new material, the live shows will revisit Cowley’s early pieces of the trio’s very British take on the classic piano-bass-drums sound.

Dates are: Liverpool International Jazz Festival, Liverpool (22 Feb); Live @Union Lane Sunday, Brampton (23 Feb); St George’s, Bristol (22 Apr); The Bradshaw Hall, Birmingham (25 Apr); The Glasshouse ICM, Gateshead (26 Apr); Royal Northern College of Music (27 Apr); Turner Sims, Southampton (1 May); Saffron Hall, Saffron Walden (3 May); Howard Assembly Room, Leeds (4 May); Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff (13 Jun); Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal (19 Jun).
