Brighton-based organisaion, New Generation Jazz, are responding to the current pandemic induced crisis in live music by hosting a series of livestreamed concerts from 3 to 6 September to reunite artists and audiences while social distancing has forced them apart.

With support from Jazz South, the Cinematic Live Weekender will feature rising horn-heavy quintet Barnacles (3 September from 6pm); talented soul-jazz vocalist Abi Flynn (4 September from 6pm); funky fusion trio Howes3 (5 September from 6pm) and pianist Mark Edwards’ high caliber ensemble Cloggz with saxophonist Julian Nicolas and singer Imogen Ryall (6 September from 6pm). Each set will be followed by a live interactive Q&A with the artists.

Tamsin Mendelsohn, Manager at Jazz South, said: “Jazz South is delighted to be supporting New Generation Jazz in profiling and supporting such an exciting selection of rising talent from the region through the Cinematic Live Weekender. Filming at local venue, the Ropetackle Arts Centre in Shoreham, New Generation Jazz’s high quality cinematic broadcasts will capture the very best emerging bands, bringing these talented artists to jazz fans everywhere.”

Ahead of the Weekender event - the Sessions kick off on 27 August with a live set from dynamic trumpeter Jackson Mathod who plays his groove driven originals such as his single, 'India'. Further livestreamed Sessions will include trumpeter Mark Kavuma's Banger Factory Octet in September, followed by Sultan Stevenson Trio and SUDO in October and Yadasofi in November.

The livestreams will be broadcast on the New Generation Jazz and Jazzwise Facebook pages and the New Generation Jazz YouTube channel
