Nigel Kennedy Launches New Jazz Album With Jazz Cafè Show
Friday, February 28, 2003
Classical violin star Nigel Kennedy makes his latest foray into the jazz world next week with the release of the peculiarly-titled set, A Very Nice Album. It follows Kennedy’s last major jazz project, his stellar homage to the Blue Note label, The Blue Note Sessions, which was released in 2006 when the violinist was joined by Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette and Raul Midon among other big names.

The new double album this time features Kennedy’s own tunes with Kennedy joined by his Polish quintet of drummer Pawel Dobrowolski, bassist Adam Kowaleski pianist Piotr Wylezol and tenor saxophonist Tomasz Grzegorski plus others including Amy Winehouse band member Xantone Blacq and singer Chris Lung. Kennedy and the quintet mark the album’s release at the Jazz Café in London on 16 June.
