Ornette Coleman and Cecil Taylor For Festival Hall

Tuesday, April 3, 2007

Due to re-open in June, the Royal Festival Hall, closed for two years for a major refurbishment, has booked a dream brace of gigs with some of the most innovative avant garde jazz musicians. On Sunday 8 July the Cecil Taylor Quartet takes to the Festival Hall’s stage with a quartet featuring saxophonist Anthony Braxton, bassist William Parker and drummer Tony Oxley.

The next day, 9 July, Ornette Coleman returns to the UK for the first time in two years with his double bass band, featuring son Denardo on drums and bassists Tony Falanga and Al McDowell.
