The young piano star launches Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy campaign on 22 April

The largest independent music therapy charity in the UK, Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy is dedicated to enriching the lives of people affected by life limiting illness. Their latest fund raising campaign - We Are Listening - kicks off at 8pm this Thursday, 22 April, with a live streamed performance from fast rising UK jazz pianist and singer Reuben James. A regular on the London jazz scene, James is also well known for his global tours with soul singer Sam Smith, and for this performance he’s joined by his stellar band that includes saxophonist Reuben Fox, trumpeter Jay Phelps, flautist Gareth Lockrane, drummer Dexter Hercules, bassist David Mrakpor, guitarist Tom Ford and superb backing vocalists Vula Malinga, Ladonna Harley-Peters and Patrick Linton.
Aiming to “challenge and educate people about the vital power of music therapy”, the We Are Listening campaign will feature 10 unique creative talents, each responding to the powerful impact of Nordoff Robbins’ work – the 10-part series will shed light on the limitless ways that music can enrich those with life-limiting illness. The charity said that music therapy “has the potential to not only enhance the life experience of those we work with but to positively influence their environment and community. Expertly trained, our music therapists tune into each movement, reaction and expression and by truly listening they respond and connect through the art of music companionship.”
