Ronnie Scott’s Launches Jazz Youth Drive

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

Davina McCall might seem an incongruous choice but the garrulous Big Brother presenter makes a rare outing into the jazz world tonight when she teams up with Ronnie’s owner Sally Greene to launch the club’s new jazz youth strand.

A series of workshops and instructional courses it’s aimed at aspiring musicians aged between 11 and 16 and will cover a variety of instrumental and vocal disciplines in a pilot scheme to take place this weekend with the course itself starting in January catering for 30 young people over an eight-week term. Trombonist Mike Mwenso, Ronnie’s MD James Pearson and Empirical’s Jay Phelps will all lend their expertise to the scheme.  Pictured: Ronnie Scott’s
