Sons of Kemet, Soweto Kinch and Binker Golding kick it at Cambridge

Sons of Kemet, Soweto Kinch and Binker Golding's new Quartet are among a diverse set of headliners at the second Cambridge Jazz Festival, which takes place from 16 to 27 November, over 12 nights at 21 venues around the city.

Building on the success of its inaugural edition last year, the programme once again packs in a wide-ranging line-up with hard swinging sounds from acclaimed multi-reedist Alan Barnes, free improv from saxophonist Dee Byrne's Entropi, funk from the Haggis Horns and multi-award winning saxophonist/rapper Soweto Kinch performs with his Trio on music from new album, Nonagram.

Gearbox Records present one of their acclaimed 'Jazz Kissa' evenings at the Hidden Rooms with label boss Darrel Sheinman spins original Blue Note 1500 series pressings, Gearbox audiophile releases and special 'wild card' records, all played on a state-of-the-art Kerr & Smith Audio Ltd sound system. The label's star signing Binker Golding makes a special debut performance of new exciting material with his Quartet. Further bookings include Laura Jurd's Dinosaur, Bill Laurance Project and jazz-influenced Mercury Prize-nominated singer Laura Mvula.

The main programme is bolstered by a substantial workshop series covering everything from jazz dance to big band jazz, jazz-funk and hip hop (with Kinch and Resolution 88), percussion and even jazz harp – all hosted by the festival's artists.
