Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Groundwork, an afternoon jazz improvisation workshop at Camden’s The Roundhouse for singers and all instrumentalists, is to take place during the London Songwriters Week on 20 May.

Aimed at young people interested in developing their skills in jazz playing, singing, improvisation and harmony it covers approaches to learning jazz standards, improvisation, playing the blues, building a jazz vocabulary/repertoire, as well as giving them the tools to help write their own songs and building the foundations to further develop their interest and knowledge of jazz. Alto saxophonist/MC Soweto Kinch, pianist Trevor Watkis and his brother, jazz singer Cleveland Watkiss, are leading the workshops.
