The young UK sax star releases his first solo single featuring a guest appearance by the revered Chic guitarist/producer
Already making a name for himself as the first ever winner of the BBC’s Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 2014, Alex Bone is a fast-rising sax star who’s clocked up tours with Vulfpeck guitarist Cory Wong among numerous other sessions for the likes of Tom Misch and Rudimental.
‘In Dream’ is the first single from the altoist’s forthcoming album and also features Bone’s bandmates of Joe Lee on electric bass and Luke Tomlinson on drums and is typical of his hybrid blend of jazz harmony, electro-funk and contemporary studio production topped with improvised solos. Fans of Nile Rodgers’ effortlessly funky guitar will be pleasantly surprised to hear him ripping out a cool jazz-informed guitar solo with great abandon.
