The rising star saxophonist and composer presents his new single, featuring cellist/vocalist Midori Jaeger

Acclaimed London-based saxophonist and composer Alex Hitchcock released 'Wolf And Nina' on 14 October, the first single lifted from his upcoming album Dream Band, out on 19 November via Barcelona-based label Fresh Sounds New Talent.

Dream Band is Alex's new project featuring some of the best musicians that London can offer, with guest appearances from some US heavy hitters. "I wanted to create a snapshot of the strength and variety of musicians in London and see how far different collaborators can stretch my music" says the virtuoso saxophonist.

'Wolf And Nina' features BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year Deschanel Gordon and multi-genre cellist/vocalist Midori Jaeger. "I wrote this about the reassurance you get from having non-human companions in situations of stress. In this case my cats in the pandemic; their blissful ignorance to whatever’s going on in the human world, and their lack of change in behaviour being a comfort". With Midori's lyrics touching on the strains of relationships, 'Wolf And Nina' goes beyond the boundaries of jazz within folk-tinged song writing and ethereal atmospheres.
