Video of the Day: Emma Johnson’s Gravy Boat share 'Worry Not [Live at Northern Monk Refectory]'
Tuesday, March 22, 2022
Following the success of their debut album release and UK tour in 2021, saxophonist Emma Johnson’s Gravy Boat are keeping listener’s worries at bay with a live release of their album title track, ‘Worry Not’ as a single on 25 March
This live version of the track was filmed at Northern Monk Refectory in Holbeck, Leeds by Good Boy Live Sessions, the track and its accompanying video demonstrate that this quintet are not just a studio outfit, presenting a unified and warm live sound in this industrial space.
The track proved a surprise favourite upon the album’s release with its longer form and varying dynamics going down a storm. Audiences found it uplifting, moving and powerful, toward the end of an album that weaves through the artists experience with overcoming worry and stress.
Gravy Boat are currently working on new material but aren’t ready to leave their debut album behind just yet, with a number of live tour dates still coming up at venues such as Vortex Jazz Club, Davenham Theatre and Howard Assembly Rooms before this release.
This track feels like the perfect end to what’s been a fantastic twelve months for those aboard the Gravy Boat and we’ll be keeping an eye on what’s on the horizon for them next.
