Video of the Day: WorldService Project share ‘Deeper’ from new album Hiding In Plain Sight

Featuring a leaner, meaner quartet of leader/keyboardist/ vocalist Dave Morecroft, saxophonist Ben Powling, bassist Arthur O’Hara and drummer Luke Reddin-Williams (of Roller Trio) the album also features trombonist Kieran McLeod on four tracks and is produced by Led Bib bassist/ solo artist Liran Donin. Packing a mighty sonic punch, the stripped-back heavy riffing is matched with timely political subject matter and irreverent humour.

As a band that has toured Europe consistently since its formation over 10 years ago. Morecroft says of the group’s new approach: “For years now, WSP has become increasingly political – necessary to reflect the times we are in and to push back against and fight the ignorance and apathy of this world. WSP is increasingly anti-establishment, as we see disproportionality in every step of life, also worsening as the years go by. Musically, we’ve crafted and weaved our anthems into more recognisable shapes; hammering home these emotive aims on the album, which will then naturally evolve and unfold in live contexts. As punk-jazz veterans (by now) and as one of the UK’s most exported ‘jazz’ acts; we’ve always been here, and we’re not going away.”
