Birmingham Jazz Festival

Tuesday, June 21, 2005

The Cinderella of the big city jazz festivals, the Birmingham Jazz Festival, is back next month from 1-10 July this time sponsored by Starbucks.

Celebrating its twenty first year the event was at one time one of the key festivals on the calendar but in recent years its profile has been diminished with a series of less than inspiring line-ups. This year there are 160 shows in 40 venues with a range of acts including Joey De Francesco, Hiromi, Hanna Richardson, Alan Barnes, Red Holloway,

George Melly, Digby Fairweather, Gwyneth Herbert, Acoustic Ladyland, Andy Hamilton and Soweto Kinch.
