Clown Revisited, Troyka and Fulborn Teversham For Thames Festival

Monday, August 10, 2009

London’s F-IRE Collective has programmed a significant strand of next month’s Thames festival organised by the mayor of London with a line-up set to feature Nick Ramm’s quirky circus-influenced band, Clown Revisited, prog-jazz trio Troyka and Polar Bear drummer Seb Rochford’s alternative Henry Cow-influenced band, Fulborn Teversham.

The festival will take place on 12 and 13 September along the embankments of the river Thames between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge. The F-IRE artists will be staged directly in front of the Tate Modern, one of the prime locations of the festival, from midday until 7pm on both days followed appropriately enough by French fire alchemists, Compagnie Carabosse.

The music for Saturday 12 September begins with Nick Ramm’s quirky circus-influenced band, Clown Revisited at midday. The original inspiration for the Clown Revisited project came from two trips to the circus in Denmark and Holland where Ramm played in the house band accompanying acrobats, magicians, trapeze artists, jugglers, contortionists and of course, clowns.

Other highlights on Saturday include The Irreverents (1.10pm), Johnny Phillips’ Oriole (2.20pm), the Finn Peters Quartet (4.40pm) and Méta Méta, an Afro-Cuban-influenced band featuring F-IRE founder, Barak Schmool (5.50pm). Sunday 13 September includes Abimaro (12.00pm), Jonathan Bratoëff (12.45pm), Porpoise Corpus (2.00pm), Troyka (3.15pm) and the Sam Crockatt Quartet (4.30pm) building to Fulborn Teversham at 5.45pm.
