Crystal Silence Poised For Box Set Release

Thursday, July 30, 2009

ECM is to issue a box set of Gary Burton and Chick Corea’s Crystal Silence: The ECM Recordings, 1972-79 a four-CD set on 7 September.

The box brings together the influential and bestselling 1972 album Crystal Silence, which has sold some 400,000 copies to date, along with the Grammy-winning Duet (recorded in 1978) and In Concert, Zürich, October 28, 1979. Two live selections, ‘I’m Your Pal/Hullo Bolinas’ and ‘Love Castle’, appear on CD for the first time in this collection.

The box set follows on from last year’s Concord Records release The New Crystal Silence which recalled the original Crystal Silence album and featured arrangements by British saxophonist Tim Garland. The New Crystal Silence won the Grammy for best jazz instrumental album earlier this year.
