Ealing jazz festival turns 21

One of the longest running UK free festivals takes place next month in west London.

The Ealing Jazz Festival, sponsored this year by JVC, takes place from 24-31 July in the grounds of Walpole Park, London W5. Twenty one years old this year the programme features premieres by Tony Kinsey, Jazz Umbrella and the F-ire Collective. On 24 July there is a specially programmed day led by the F-ire Collective including performances by Norma Winstone, Robert Mitchell, Julian Siegel, Polar Bear and Nois4. Additionally, The F-ire big band Synergy is unusually teaming up with trad trumpeter Digby Fairweather. Other artists taking part at this year's event are the Ken McCarthy Seven, Ray Gelato, Tommy McQuater, Frank Griffith, Ken Baldock, Paul Carmichael, Keith Waithe, Harlem Airshaft, Roland Lacey, Liz Fletcher, Winston Morson, Claire Davies, Jack Honeyborne, Sound of 17 Big Band, Olivia Chaney, Byron Wallen, Basil Hodge and Soothsayers.
