Harrogate Festival Continues with James Taylor Quartet, Clare Teal and Jacqui Dankworth

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

The Harrogate International Festival is by now well under way and stretches through until 24 July.

Clare Teal, the James Taylor Quartet and Jacqui Dankworth are included in the jazz strand of the programme this year. Four days into the festival in the quaint historic spa town, and there is still much to hear.

Tomorrow it's the turn of singer Clare Teal performing at the Royal Hall with the Radio 2 presenter returning to the north Yorkshire spa town with a classic jazz vocal songbook-inspired set. Hammond organ-led group, the James Taylor Quartet follow this Friday (17 July) at the Harrogate theatre with their trademark 1990s acid jazz style led by James Taylor who has been described as the "keyboard king of acid jazz" by The Times with his Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff-inspired style. Having previously performed at the festival in 2007, the fine jazz singer Jacqui Dankworth returns to play material off her new album Back To You in the relaxed setting of the Crown Hotel this Saturday, 18 July, at 8pm.
