Jazz breaking news: Abram Wilson tours new composition inspired by Harlem piano prodigy

Trumpeter and composer Abram Wilson marks 10 years in the UK this month with a major tour showcasing new composition 'Philippa', inspired by the life of Harlem born classical pianist Philippa Schuyler before going into the studio to record 'Philippa' with his quartet later this year.

Dates include Pizza Express Jazz Club, Soho, London on Wednesday (4 April); Oxford Jazz Festival, Oxford (6 April); Campus West, Welwyn Garden City (13 May); Bishop Auckland Town Hall, Bishop Auckland (19 May); Beaver Inn, Appledore (21 May); St Ives Jazz Club, St Ives, Cornwall (22 May); Carlton Theatre, Teignmouth (24 May); Kings Place, London (2 June); St Lawrence Chapel, Ashburton, (10 June); Dempsey’s, Cardiff (12 June); and The Anvil, Basingstoke (15 June). – Stephen Graham
