Jazz breaking news: ACT signs Marius Neset and releases E.S.T. on 180gram vinyl
Tuesday, November 5, 2013
Rising star Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset (pictured) has signed exclusively to ACT Records, following on from his hugely acclaimed albums Golden Xplosion and Birds, both on leading UK label Edition Records.
Neset, who featured on the May cover of Jazzwise, has already appeared on ACT via Polish violinist Adam Baldych’s Imaginary Room album, while he received rave reviews at the JazzBaltica Festival this year for his duo performance with ACT-signed German pianist Michael Wollny. Label boss Siggi Loch commented: “The discovery and support of new, outstanding talents, particularly of European jazz, was and is one of the core competences of ACT. The collaboration with Marius Neset now opens a new chapter in this endeavor.”
This news comes hot on the heels that Esbjörn Svensson Trio’s widely acclaimed Live In Hamburg double CD set, which was first released in 2007, is being released as a special four disc vinyl Remastered Collectors Edition on 25 November. The album, which was named by The Times as Jazz Album of the Decade 2000-2010, was recorded by NDR radio at Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle 22 November 2006, the final night of the group’s 2006 world tour where they had played over 100 concerts in 24 countries. The concert was considered by the musicians, their management and record company as their best concert ever, both from a sound and performance perspective.
