The organisers behind Jazz FM’s Love Supreme Jazz Festival, which runs from 5-7 July at Glynde Place in East Sussex, have just announced that iconic singer Bryan Ferry (pictured left) and his Orchestra will make an exclusive UK debut appearance at the festival, headlining the bill on Saturday 6 July.

Ferry’s set will be in two halves, the first featuring music from his new album The Jazz Age, the second will include new interpretations of music from both his lengthy solo career and recordings with Roxy Music.

Also just confirmed for the bill are 1970s disco-funk stars Chic who appear with founding member and legendary guitarist/producer, Nile Rodgers, while two 2012 Mercury Prize nominees will appear in the form of soul-jazz influenced singer songwriter Michael Kiwanuka, and jazz-rock improv band Roller Trio. Other names recently confirmed include top UK sax star Courtney Pine, superb US soul-jazz singer Gregory Porter, fellow Mercury Prize nominees Portico Quartet, Manchester-based rising stars Gogo Penguin and dazzling American a capella group Naturally 7.

Bryan Ferry commented on his plans for the festival, saying: “I am looking forward to incorporating material from my latest album The Jazz Age in the set at the Love Supreme Festival. This will be the first time the Bryan Ferry Orchestra will have played live in the UK and we will be adding vocals to several of the jazz arrangements as well as being joined by members of my regular band.”

Courtney Pine also added: “Playing concerts in front of a live outdoor-audience is a huge thrill for the improvising musician. This first ever series of concerts features a fantastic cast of very talented world class jazz musicians which I am proud and very humbled to be joining. This Love Supreme Jazz Festival is huge and will be banging!”

Other headline artists so far announced include Sunday headliner Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra who confirmed singer Roland Gift, from the Fine Young Cannibals, will be perform as guest vocalist with the band alongside Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall.

With over 40 acts, the Love Supreme Jazz Festival will have a main stage, a unique floored and seated Jazz big top, a ‘Discovery’ stage and a Club stage.
