Jazz breaking news: Countdown to Love Supreme Jazz Festival

Thursday, July 4, 2013

The first Love Supreme Jazz Festival is all set to open its gates tomorrow in the picturesque grounds of Glynde Place, an Elizabethan stately home set on the Sussex Downs near Brighton.

The finalised line-up – listed in full below complete with onstage start times for each act – now includes up-and-coming local bands appearing on the Bandstand stage (booked by Brighton jazz club The Verdict); the winner of the Discovery competition, singer Anoushka Lucas who will appear on the Arena stage, and late club night DJ sessions each evening.

With the weather set to be glorious across the weekend (arguably the best forecast for the last five years), and disco funk icons Chic likely to repeat their stunning Glastonbury performance a week ago, all bodes well for this inaugural event. The strong line-up of top jazz, soul and funk artists also includes Bryan Ferry and his Jazz Age Orchestra, Marcus Miller, Branford Marsalis, Robert Glasper, Gregory Porter, Esperanza Spalding (pictured below), Courtney Pine, Melody Gardot, Jools Holland, Brand New Heavies and many more.

The festival, presented by Jazz FM, will also include a plethora of extra attractions including a Parisian style cocktail bar, sushi, Greek cuisine, baristas, a funfair, wandering masseuses, shops, bookstalls, record stores and breakfast-time classic album playbacks alongside the three main stages and a bandstand. It’s the UK’s first greenfield jazz festival with camping for many years and festival goers can also hire pre-erected tents or go for upmarket ‘glamping’ with a range of luxury tents and Podpads.
